Eventful weekend...

So Thanksgiving came and went...I had to work unfortunately so Luke was all alone that day :[ . We went shopping on Black Friday together which was quite the adventure. Got some pretty neat stuff so I'm glad that we went. We also got our Tree that day too (decorated it on Saturday). However...I had to work that day so I was very tired from lack of sleep...which leads up to Saturday.

We went on the Puu Piei Hike with a couple friends this last Saturday...a very long and steep hike...that when one hasn't gotten alot of sleep lately, can get tiring very very fast. So...I became very grumpy, very quickly.

I tried to convey to Luke that I didn't want to keep hiking up the mountain...but he insisted

I started to get a headache right about the time that we were done and on our way home (started the hike around 1pm...didn't get home till 4:30pm...) Got home and took some Tylenol hoping that that would fix the headache, but man was I wrong.

We thought I was having a headache because I was hungry so we ordered pizza, but that didn't help at all. Instead my body decided to throw it all up...3 times within 3 hrs...until I didn't have anything to throw up, then I started dry-heaving. So Luke took me to the hospital around 1am Sunday morning. Not fun. I don't know if I have ever mentioned how much I hate needles...but I loathe them and I had to have an IV of course since I was dehydrated from puking. So me being a thinker asked the nurse if she would numb my hand first before giving me the IV..it didn't work and my vein collapsed in my hand so she resorted to sticking me in my arm...NOT A GOOD FEELING!!!! I was miserable. Luke thought he'd make a funny by telling me to take it like a man...he was lucky that I was in no condition to kick his butt at that moment..but I look back and laugh at it now (sorta). Anyway, so after all that nonsense they did some blood work to find that it wasn't a virus (they thought that I might have had meningitis...) and had me do all these movements to see, like put my chin on my chest, raise my legs in the air...things that when you have a migraine...hurt alot. The doctor asked me lots of questions and I was trying my best to answer him and not throw up all over him at the same time...not an easy task I might add. Finally he caught on and talked with Luke since I had already told him earlier how I was feeling. They gave me some meds for the nausea and my headache in the IV...then we waited for the bloodwork like I had mentioned earlier. When the results came back they decided the nausea was caused by my migraine (DUH!) and sent us home with some meds for both the pain and upset tummy. Didn't get home till after 3 am...it had been a long day.

I think what irked me the most was that I had told them my reasoning for why I was sick (and I was right) but they insisted on just torturing me...ok maybe I'm being a bit dramatic now, but seriously...I wish that I didn't have to have an IV...I am fine though...just trying to get back to normal again. This whole "clear liquid" diet is killing me...but I've only had to take one nausea pill so i'm doing alright.

Anyway, just wanted to tell everyone about our adventure to the hospital. Stomach virus...psh! I also wanted to post some pics from our hike and our pretty Christmas Tree too! Enjoy!

Love,
Nicole

You should have just thrown up on the doctor. Would have taught him a valuable lesson. And maybe you should have thrown up on Luke, too, when he told you to take it like a man, ha!

Yucky, Yucky Yucky! Do you normally get migraines? If so I am so sorry for you! The tree looks great... that will be quite a welcome when someone comes to your front door... hehehe (Obviously you don't use that door behind the tree!)
