Here's what happened in our neck of the woods:
My friend Erin's water broke this morning so she sent me a text saying that they couldn't make it to dinner tonight (ha ha). She delivered her baby boy at around 4 PM today!! I don't know any other stats yet, but I'll find out tomorrow when I go see them :) They named him Ian Alexander Bloomfield :) I bet he's super cute :) I'll add pics of him and the family once I get some. Erin told me that I'm good luck because I had told them that if she hadn't gone into labor yet they should come over for dinner for St. Patrick's Day and that if she did go into labor at my house then they would be closer to the hospital ha ha. They never made it to our house, but it's still St. Patty's Day :) I'm so excited for this family! I bet little Maggie is way excited to be a big sister :)
Dinner didn't happen as planned today. Aside from the fact that the Bloomfields are at the hospital, I had some issues come up too. I was going to make corned beef with potatoes, carrots and cabbage for dinner, but I spent the afternoon at Tripler instead. I went in for my 36 week check up today and everything seemed fine... That is until I was about to drive home and the doc called me and asked me to go to Tripler (a 20-30 min drive away from the clinic) to have a non stress test done and get my amniotic fluids checked with an ultrasound to see if the baby was ok. This cause for concern was due to the fact that I had not gained more than a pound over the last 3 weeks (even though I had weighed myself on Monday and was at 138, but today I was just over 136...) so the doc was worried that the baby was under some kind of stress and not gaining weight himself. So I drove to Tripler and once I got there (30 min later, not to include finding parking which took another 10-15 min) I had to wait for a few min before being seen since they were having a hard time finding me in the system (they didn't know if they should log the results from what they did today under my old Active Duty info or the current non active duty stuff under Luke since that's where my stuff goes now). Once they got that all sorted out I was strapped to a monitor for the non stress test. The most boring 30 min of my life. The only plus was that I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the entire 30 min. I was also entertained by him since he kept kicking the monitors on my belly and moving away from the heartbeat one ha ha. After that test was over with (everything was totally fine) I got to wait again until I was called back for an ultrasound to check the fluids. Everything checked out ok in that department too (as I had suspected would be the case). I knew that nothing was wrong with me or the baby. He's definitely still a boy ha ha. When I mentioned that he gets the hiccups often the ultrasound tech told me that that was a very good sign that he's doing just fine which made me feel even better. I just have to keep eating normally (3 meals a day plus snacks) and drink lots of water. I'll be getting his growth and weight looked at next week with another ultrasound just to be sure though. I look forward to seeing my little man again :D I got to see him breathe today. And his 4 chamber heart was beating away :) He was kinda shy at first and hiding his face with his hands which is so cute. He's also head down too so that took some weight off of my mind. Here's hoping he stays that way for the next 4 weeks until he is born :)
Anyway, so after all the above mentioned was finished I didn't get home until 10 til 5pm due to traffic so my St. Patty's Day dinner is being postponed until the weekend. Erin and her fam will be home from the hospital by then so I will be taking them some food to share :) Well, hope everyone's day was as eventful as mine! Later everyone!
