Quarter of a Century and other fun things

That's right folks, I'm officially 25 years old.  I can now get the discounted price when we rent a car.  w00t!  This year we didn't get to do anything special on my actual birthday because Luke had to work that night so we waited until the 17th to go out to eat.  I did get to take a nice nap on my birthday and the boy and I went on a walk later that day though :)

So, to celebrate my turning a quarter of a century old we went to my favorite place, Red Lobster!  I love that place and I especially love that my birthday falls during shrimp fest every year!  I love love love their shrimp scampi!  And the biscuits are to die for!  Sadly, I didn't get any pics of us at the restaurant, but we had a great time with friends :)  I had Luke take a few pics of me after we got home and the boy was in bed.  And here they are:

Have I mentioned that Luke loves to take TONS of pics so he gets all kinds of poses from me.  He also feels the need to be a complete goof so that I smile.  That man sure loves to make me laugh til my face hurts ha ha :)

In other news, my baby turned 5 months old on the 21st!!  He is getting so big so fast!  He is sitting up on his own pretty well (just needs a pillow behind him in case he tips) and he has started to crawl over the last week too!!  Here's some pics of him that I took yesterday of him sitting up like a big boy.

Isn't he just the cutest thing!!!  I love my little man so much! :D

This was taken on the 19th after church.  My Mom got him this before he was born and this is probably going to be the only time he can wear it :(  It gets way too hot here during the day for this kind of an outfit, but he sure looks handsome in it.

He is also starting to like rice cereal more (or at least he opens his mouth for a bite now).  I have a video of Luke feeding him and I'll post it, but it's almost 6 min long so you have been warned.  I also got a video of him "crawling" last night that I shall post too :) (don't worry, it's shorter than the eating one)

That's all I have for now.  Hope everyone has had a great month so far!  October is just around the corner and that means.... Halloween! :)

I got the CD of the family photos we had taken at the Wegener Family Reunion this past June.  Here they are!

tuckered out...

this is what happens when one has way too much fun jumping lol

I was in the other room on the computer and could hear him getting a little fussy and then he got quiet so I went out in the living room to check on him and this is what I found.  Don't worry, he was put in his swing after these photos were taken :)

It's September already?!?

I can't believe it's already September!  I can't believe that my 25th Birthday is coming up (on Tuesday) or the fact that my baby will be 5 months old on the 21st.  How time flies huh?  Fun things have been happening already this month for the Sullivan family.  A couple weeks ago I picked up some used baby clothes and toys from a lady that was giving them away and one of those toys was a jumperoo.  Carlos has really enjoyed this item.  At first he didn't know what to do in it so he just played with the toys, but after a day or two he figured out how to jump in it and now he absolutely loves it!  I filmed him jumping in it the other day and took some pics of him in it too.

We also started giving him rice cereal this past weekend and he hasn't taken to it quite yet.  I missed the first time he tried it because Luke panicked when I was out for about 1.5 hrs and he was getting fussy.  His first experience with the stuff didn't go as planned to say the least, but Luke did get it on film.  The videos are too long though to put on here (and would bore you all), but I do have a pic of when I was feeding him some the other day for my first time.  His face says it all ha ha.

Hopefully he will start to like it someday soon.  Until then we will just have to put up with the funny faces he pulls after every bite :)

Some other funny things that he does happen when he sleeps.  Like this:
Now that's is taking a nap with style right there ha ha.  Life is gonna be a bit stressful when he no longer can sit in his swing for a nap.  Doesn't he look comfy? :)

He's also been rolling over onto his tummy to sleep at night.  I don't know what to do when he does that so I try to roll him back over only to come back in a couple hours to see him sleeping on his tummy.  Should I take it as a sign that it's safe for him to sleep that way now?  He hasn't mastered rolling back onto his back yet so it makes me nervous still.  I'm just hoping that I'm overreacting and that he will be ok to sleep on his tummy..until then I guess I will just keep checking on him.

Anyway, in non-Carlos news...Luke found a rat on Saturday night in the kitchen!!  So we got some sticky traps and laid them out on Sunday night.  While we were laying out the traps we heard a squeak and I freaked out and ran and jumped up on the couch (I'm that big of a sissy) and Luke just laughed at me.  About 2 hours after we laid the traps we heard some rustling (we laid plastic bags under the traps so it would be easier to dispose of the creature) in the kitchen and low and behold the rat had gotten caught!!  Luke filmed me freaking out when I saw the thing (it was HUGE and oh so GROSS!!) and then took a pic of it and THEN took it out to the trash.  I will post the pic so you can see the rodent, but to avoid embarrassing myself I will not be posting the video.

YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!

Sorry to end on this note, but that's all I have for now.  I really really hope that thing did not have any offspring or friends he left behind.....

It's that time again

We took Carlos in for his 4 month check-up today.  He's doing really well!  He weighs 15.15 lbs (went down from when I weighed him here at home, but that's ok) and is 24.7 inches long!  That puts him at 63% for weight and 56 % for height.  He's also at 40 % for his head circumference.  We got the green light to start him on rice cereal just so he can get a taste for it (and not to use it to supplement feedings).  So I'll be going to the store to get him some and we'll try it out this weekend (and get it on film of course ha ha).  The doc also confirmed that his 2 bottom teeth are coming in (slowly, but surely).  Here's hoping he gets them with little discomfort (although I doubt it).

He also had to get more shots today :(  I'm hoping that he sleeps ok tonight and that I don't get to enjoy being projectile-vomited on again like last time.  Not an event that I wish to repeat.

Anyway, just wanted to give everyone an update oh how our little guy is doing.  Have a good one!

4 months old and getting bigger!

Can you believe that just 4 months ago I was in the hospital giving birth to my sweet little man?  I sure can't!!  He is doing really well as far as we know.  He loves to talk/screech now.  He definitely sounds more like a Pterodactyl than a human baby sometimes ha ha. But we still love him :)

As far as his growth is concerned he is over 16 lbs according to our scale at home and I'm not sure how long he is.  We have his 4 month appointment scheduled for the 31st so I'll give you all an update after that.

Anyway, in recent Carlos news, he has learned to roll over as of the 18th of this month!  It started out that he would roll from his back to his tummy and then I saw him roll from his tummy back onto his back too!  He did it over and over for about an hour one day and now he has decided that since I want to get it on film he won't do it anymore (the brat!).  So what do you do when your kid is being stubborn?  Place the camera on a table, press record and then leave the room!  And that's just what I did and it worked!  He had been rolling over from his back to his tummy a lot yesterday morning so I decided to give it a try.  Here's the proof!

My baby can roll over! from Nicole Sullivan on Vimeo.

I posted the shorter video since the original had about a min of him just playing with his toy on his back before he rolled over.  I wanted to cut to the chase :)

Some more Carlos news is he is also starting to sit up on his own a little better.  He would rather stand up though so it makes it a little difficult to convince him to sit.  Good thing he likes his toys because they make for great distractions!  He also LOVES his Daddy :)  For some reason I'm just not nearly as funny as Luke is.  Luke can get him to do the biggest giggles just by looking at him sometimes.  I have to work at it a bit more ha ha.  He is super ticklish on his sides, his back and under his chin (and pretty ticklish on his feet too) so I like to do that to him, but in moderation since he gets the hiccups if tickled too much ha ha.  I have a video of Luke and Carlos playing, but I'll have to get a better one since he's not giggling nearly as much as he normally does.

we also caught him doing something pretty funny in his exersaucer yesterday and I got it on film for your entertainment.

What a goofball!  I sure love this kid!  He makes my day everyday and I love his sweet spirit :)  I can't imagine our lives without him!  I wish I could just freeze time so that I can enjoy him more when he's little, before he starts getting into trouble :P  But at the same time I'm excited to watch him grow and learn to do even more new things!  I love you little man!

oh the silly things he does

The other day Luke was playing with Carlos after he got home from work.  I was doing something on the computer when Luke called for me to come see something.  This is what I walked in to see:

My baby felt like walking backwards ha ha :)  He normally will walk forward when you hold him, but that day he wasn't feelin it I guess ha ha.  What a nut :)

I also took some pics of him earlier that day.  He is getting so big!

And today he was being super happy in his exersauer so I took some way cute pics of him :)

I love this boy!

new things

Last week during tummy time Carlos was being especially cute.  He was also doing something new: reaching out and grabbing a toy that was on his mat!  I got a video of him playing :)

I also took some pics of him just being his normal cute self.
